Today, we’ll begin at the front door…

As you approach our front door, you’re greeted with a vibrant pink tulip wreath! To me, pink tulips are the perfect flower to welcome spring to your home. So, get ready because this won’t be the only pink you’ll see on my spring home tour! Of course, you’ll see lots of blue and white as well! Now, let’s step inside the foyer to continue the tour!…

Flowers and Greenery:

Like most years, I kept my foyer table simple with some pink tulips and faux greenery. When decorating, I usually end up mixing real and artificial plants and flowers. That way, I can keep my vignettes looking fresh longer. After all, it’s easier to replace a few fresh flowers than a whole table full at once. Plus, the artificial versions are pretty nice these days.

Since we walk past our foyer table all day long, I like to keep freshened up each season…and cheerful looking for spring!

To coordinate with the pinks from the tulips, I hung a botanical wall hanging on the opposite wall. Originally, I was going to display my tulips in my blue and white porcelain vases but I felt they looked too busy near the wall hanging. Instead, I chose to keep the containers on the table more subtle to let the wall hanging stand out. If you want to see how I decorated with blue and white porcelain in a previous year, see this spring entry decor.

Spring Home Tour 2023 – Blue and White in the Kitchen:

Decorating with plenty of blue and white…with pops of pink…

Last year,I used yellow as my accent color but pink has always been my favorite. In fact, when I got married almost 25 years ago, my bridesmaids wore navy blue and we all carried pink bouquets. So, I guess it’s true that we tend to decorate in the colors we wear!

So, in keeping with my color scheme, I brought out some of my blue and white pieces. Luckily, I didn’t have to switch out my curtain panels. I’ve had them in the kitchen for the past couple of years. Since, I had the striped tablecloth in my stash,I used that as a base for my simple spring tablescape.

Before, I go into detail on the table, I’ll show you the other side of the kitchen where I added some blue and white porcelain pieces. With just a few ginger jars, some blue willow dishes and some containers of pink flowers I had enough color to make my kitchen feel like spring.

Also, it doesn’t hurt that my kitchen faces south so I get plenty of light. Soon, it will be warm enough to open the windows and let in the spring breezes…I just love this time of year!

In case you’re wondering, the pink tulips are real. Since I want to keep my stove mantel decorated this way for the next couple of months, I’ll be switching those tulips to artificial ones. Actually, I ordered some but they haven’t arrived yet. Apparently, faux tulips are popular this time of year!

If you saw my recent tiered tray ideas, you got a peek at the stove mantel before I added the tulips. Since I used pink when decorating my tiered tray, I knew I wanted to add more to my kitchen for spring.

For my table centerpiece I also used pink tulips. In the distance, you can see that I haven’t decorated my mantel for spring yet. For me, decorating is sometimes a slow process and I haven’t been inspired to come up with anything in there yet. Instead of tulips, I added faux cherry blossoms to the round tray vignette on my island. After all, the real cherry blossoms will be blooming soon. So, of course they make a great flower for a spring home tour.

Now, all these flowers are faux but I just can’t deal with too many real flowers to keep fresh.

For spring, I made some simple changes to decorate this table. For instance, I swapped out the stack of cookbooks to coordinate with my color scheme. In the seagrass baskets, I put the spring colored napkins on top where you can see them. Also, I added plenty of white pitchers and white bunnies. In my opinion, white looks so fresh for spring. Well, except when it snows!

For everyday, I usually decorate my kitchen table with a table runner and some placemats but today I have it set up with a blue and white tablecloth.

To keep the table looking fresh and simple for spring I kept the accessories to a minimum.

To bring in just a little more pink, I tied pink gingham ribbon around each white napkin. In order to keep it very simple, I used faux green stems instead of live greenery.

Overall, this tablescape is simple enough for everyday yet could work for a casual brunch or even Mother’s Day.

Insights, advice, suggestions, feedback and comments from experts

Greetings, fellow spring enthusiasts! As an avid decorator and blogger, I'm thrilled to be part of the 2023 Spring home tour, hosted by the talented Marty of A Stroll Thru Life. With 29 bloggers participating in this tour, there is an array of decorating styles to suit everyone's taste, from traditional to farmhouse and everything in between.

Today, I will be showcasing my spring home tour, highlighting my decor theme of blue and white with pops of pink. But before we dive into the details, let me assure you that my expertise in home decor is backed by years of experience and a deep understanding of design principles.

In my foyer, I have tastefully arranged pink tulips and faux greenery on my foyer table. Mixing real and artificial plants and flowers allows me to maintain the freshness of my vignettes for a longer period. If you're interested in decorating with faux plants, I have shared some ideas in my previous blog post on "How to Tastefully Decorate with Fake Plants."

To complement the pink tulips, I have hung a beautiful botanical wall hanging on the opposite wall. Instead of displaying my tulips in blue and white porcelain vases, I opted for more subtle containers on the table to let the wall hanging take center stage. If you're curious about my previous spring entry decor using blue and white porcelain, you can find inspiration in my blog.

Moving on to my kitchen, blue and white take center stage, with pops of pink. Last year, I used yellow as my accent color, but pink has always been my favorite. In keeping with my color scheme, I brought out my blue and white pieces, including curtain panels that have been a staple in my kitchen for the past couple of years.

To add more blue and white elements, I incorporated ginger jars, blue willow dishes, and containers of pink flowers. The abundance of natural light in my south-facing kitchen enhances the spring ambiance. And while I decorated with real pink tulips on my stove mantel, I plan to switch to artificial ones to maintain the same look throughout the next couple of months.

On my kitchen island, I adorned a round tray vignette with faux cherry blossoms, as they are a perfect flower choice for a spring home tour. The upcoming blooming season will soon bring real cherry blossoms, and I wanted to capture their beauty in my decor.

Continuing the tour, I added more splashes of pink on my console table using faux flowers. Although I prefer fresh flowers, it becomes challenging to keep them fresh for an extended period. Therefore, I decided to opt for artificial flowers while maintaining a fresh and simple look for spring.

For my kitchen table, I set it up with a blue and white tablecloth, keeping the accessories to a minimum. A container of pink tulips and white candlesticks serve as a centerpiece, while pink gingham ribbon tied around each white napkin adds a subtle touch of color. Faux green stems provide a simple alternative to live greenery, ensuring the table remains fresh and vibrant.

Throughout my spring home tour, I have shared some key takeaways for simple spring decorating:

  1. Decorate with the colors you love, as they will bring joy to your space.
  2. Carry the same color scheme throughout your rooms to create a cohesive look.
  3. Mix real and faux flowers and greenery to maintain freshness and longevity.
  4. Incorporate trays in your vignettes for a polished and organized display.
  5. White accessories bring a fresh and clean aesthetic to your spring decor.

If you're not quite ready to embark on your spring decorating journey, I encourage you to visit the other participants in the tour. Marty from A Stroll Thru Life has done an exceptional job hosting this event, and you can start the full tour on her lovely blog.
